The fire was contained to the attic of the building but the building sustained heavy ceiling and roof damage. Members of the IVFD and employees of Sloan-Hendrix were able to remove the band instruments including the piano. IVFD and Ravenden Volunteer firemen quickly extinguished the fire and spent the remainder of the time helping remove shelving and other furnishings from the building.

The Walnut Ridge Fire Department also sent 4 firefighters for additional manpower. AET Ambulance of Imboden was also on scene at the fire, no injuries were reported.

At 2:30pm the Imboden Volunteer Fire Department was back in service from the fire.

Superintendent Mitch Walton told ImbodenLive that the cause of the fire appeared to be possibly caused by electrical. Mr. Walton also stated that school would still open on Thursday August 19th with no delays.

The Imboden Volunteer Fire Department would also like to “Thanks” the Teachers and Staff at Sloan-Hendrix for providing the ice water and cold wet towels for the firemen.
