March, 25th at 7pm Fire Departments from the entire county attended a meeting at the Lawrence County Meeting Room in the library in Walnut Ridge. The meeting was hosted with the intent of learning candidates positions on key issues concerning our Fire/EMS services in Lawrence County.
After the candidates spoke and replied to questions, Imboden Fire Chief Chris Jones asked those in attendence if the fire departments would like to once again have a county association of fire departments. A motion was made to start up The Lawrence County Firefighters Association which will meet twice a year. Chief Chris Jones was elected President, Black Rock Fire Chief Pat Roby was elected Vice President and Elaine Stoll of the Ravenden Volunteer Fire Department was elected Secretary.
Also in attendance was Ryan Jones of the Arkansas State Firefighters Association Three Rivers District who explained benefits of the Association to members and potential members. Fire Departments that were in attendance were Walnut Ridge, Hoxie, Black Rock, Imboden, Ravenden, Smithville, Lynn, Sedgewick and Portia as well as Sherri Sparks of the Lawrence County Dispatch Center.
