Authorities report a Hoxie police officer was arrested after he allegedly sold drugs while in his police uniform and carrying a service weapon.
2nd Judicial Task Force stated on Friday agents with the 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force arrested Joshua Lynn Barber at the Hoxie Police Department parking lot.
A press release states a multi-county operation was initiated after the drug task force received information that Barber was actively engaging in selling narcotics while he was on duty.
Barber was a part-time police officer for the city of Hoxie, but a resident of Jonesboro.
Agents then conducted an undercover buy from Barber before arriving on-duty for Hoxie Police Department.
Barber was arrested without incident and transported to Craighead County Sheriff’s Office where he was arrested and charged with delivery of a controlled substance and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.
Barber will have a hearing in court on Monday, May 13 in Jonesboro.
Participating agencies and personnel included members of the 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force, the 3rd Judicial Drug Task Force, the Arkansas State Police, and the Arkansas National Guard Counter Drug Unit.
More charges in this case are expected.
