WILLARD “DUB” GIBSON OF RAVENDEN, AR

JANUARY 11, 1945 – January 8, 2020

Willard “Dub” Gibson

Willard Gibson passed on in the comfort of his home on January 8, 2020, surrounded by his family, just shy of his 75th birthday. He was born January 11, 1945, in the small community of Little Brown in Jackson County to Willard and Mary Gibson of Walnut Ridge, AR. Known to his family and close friends as Dub, he led an amazing life. He loved to be outdoors, fishing and hunting were like second nature to him. If you needed to know something about guns, Dub was your guy. As a pastime, he liked to make his own wine and beer, but in Dub’s own words he “didn’t have anything for a drunk or alcoholic.” He was an animal lover and had a place at his home for any and all critters. Dub never met a stranger and could and would talk to anyone. He did not have a selfish bone in his body, he would give you the shirt off of his own back if it would help, especially if there were kids involved. He loved his family and always looked out for them. Dub was of the Baptist faith and he may not have been able to read the Bible, but he was very well versed in it.

Willard Gibson is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Lois Gibson; parents, Willard and Mary Gibson; grandparents, James and Ruby Brown Gibson of Jonesboro, AR; one brother, Tommy Gibson of Walnut Ridge, AR; one sister, Sue McDowell of California; one daughter, Sandra Kay Callihan of Conway, AR.

Willard is survived by one son Rickey Gibson of Ravenden, AR; one daughter, Jerrie Lawhon of Jacksonville, AR; two brothers, Jerry Gibson of Walnut Ridge, AR and Glen Gibson of Oregon; two sisters, Earlene Rattliff of Kansas and Ardale Jackson of Oregon. Willard has nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A date for a dedication of Willard’s life will be announced at a later time.
